Première édition en français de l'ouvrage de Vigo, la traduction est de Nicolas Godin. C'est un des rares livres de chirurgie publiés en français durant la Renaissance. Garrison-Morton 5559-1 (first ed., Rome, 1514) : "The first complete system of surgery after that of Guy de Chauliac. It contains an account of gunshot wounds and a section on syphilis." Titre en noir et rouge avec encadrement gravé et marque d'imprimeur au centre. Nombreuses initiales historiées. Texte sur deux colonnes en caractères gothiques. La seconde partie a sa propre page de titre, avec le même encadrement gravé. Titre sali, taches sur plusieurs feuillets, dos de la reliure discrètement restauré. Le dernier feuillet (dd8), qui est blanc avec une marque de l'imprimeur, manque à cet exemplaire comme à celui de la bibliothèque Waller. Provenance : signature de l'époque sur le titre : R. Imbert. Graesse has attributed the imprint to Wittemberg. Little is known of the author who is described at the end as coming from "Erisskilch" (i.e. Eriskirch, near Bodensee). VD16 records from the same author one other similar tract, and also a 6pp. pamphlet entitled Practica Teutsch. Some browned leaves. VD16 M4449. BMSTC (German), p. 616. (3 copies).First and only German edition of a counter-reformatory work in three parts defending Catholic doctrine concerning the Eucharist. The three parts discussing the consecration, the sacrifice, and the communion respectively. A Latin version of the work was published that same year and was republished two years later. One of the many publications of a counter-reformatory nature by the German inquisitor Kaspar Schatzgeyer. Schatzgeyer was one of the most active opponents of early Protestant reform in southern Germany. A good copy. Rebound and front cover loose. A counter-reformatory work on Catholic doctrine.

Cm. 15, cc. 115. Solida legatura in piena pergamena (seicentesca?) con piccoli nervi passanti e titoli manoscritti al dorso. Un alone chiaro limitato alle prime ed ultime carte, peraltro esemplare genuino, marginoso e ben conservato. Manca l'ultima carta (bianca) posta dopo il colophon. Edizione non comune ed impressa nel tipico stile quattrocentesco degli incunaboli con frontespizio in forma d'occhietto. Non in Adams che elenca la prima edizione in volgare, del 1522.

The folding table in the front pocket alone is worth the price of admission, providing an excellent and convenient summary of the secularization of the California missions in the early nineteenth century.
