1527-1893 . . . . . . . Berlin: Georg Reimer, 1894. First Edition. . Sudhoff's works are considered by most scholars to be the definitive bibliographical resource of the works of Paracelsus: one can see the frequency of the references to these highly detailed and organized chapters where ever and when ever Paracelsus' works are offered. The presentation is concise and easy to work with. the book is extremely difficult to find: i waited for years for this copy to come up in a German sale. Original wrappers bound into a black cloth binding, (Interesting advertisements are printed on the back of the wraps, announcing newly published works of the publisher, Georg Reimer, which I always find an interesting point.) with gold lettering on the spine. pp. 722. Zuñiga, Frances.

Historia [autograph manuscript in Spanish].
Spain: mid-16th-century. Folio, 20pp. Slight dampstaining; title written in a later hand. Disbound.Zuñiga (fl. first half of the 16th century), affectionately called “Francesillo” by Charles V, was famous throughout Europe as the irrepressible buffoon of the Imperial court. This historical treatise, usually entitled “Cronica Burlesca,” relates his colorful view of the Spanish court from the death of Ferdinand until the end of 1527 when the Emperor, tired of Zuñiga’s vile tongue and harsh criticism of court life, banished him. It was not published until 1855, in vol. 36 of Aribau’s Biblioteca de Autores Españoles. Written by Zuñiga and with corrections also in his hand, this manuscript comprises the first eight and part of the ninth chapters of 86 chapters in all. It differs in several places from the printed version, and this manuscript section seems to have remained unknown to scholars up to the present day. Provenance: Laserna de Santander; Phillipps.

PHILIBERT, J.C.

Exercices de botaniques, a l'usage des commençans. Seconde édition. Paris, Bossange, Masson, Besson, 1806. 8vo. 2 volumes. 157 engraved hand-coloured plates. Contemporary half calf, marbled sides, title and volume labels on spine.
(4), 1-234; (4), 235-438 pp. Nissen, BBI 1527; Stafleu & Cowan 7842. Second enlarged edition of a botany school book. In the introduction, the author explains the classification systems of Tournefort, Linnaeus and Jussieu, and in the rest of the work he shows how to identify 153 species according to these three systems. The species include not only plants but also fungi. The plates were drawn by amateur-botanists, and it is their choice of plants and fungi on which the contents of this work is based. There are 157 plates, numbers 1-70 in the first and 71-153 in the second volume. Of four species (89, 113, 118 and 137) two plates are included. Ugly stain on both title-pages, apparently from the chemical removal of a library stamp; plates 12, 20, 54: some offsetting; plates 21, 22: tear along printing edge, not affecting illustration; plate 23 similar tear skillfully repaired; pl. 67: waterstain; plates 94, 100, 101 paint shines through paper; pl. 153: marginal stains. Nevertheless a well preserved copy.
